AFC Uckfield Town Vs. Newhaven (20/8/22)

AFC Uckfield Town have played against Sussex compadres Newhaven Town for the past couple of seasons. The last time they overcame the team from the coast was in 2019 with a 4-2 to win. Last season was a draw 1-1 and a 2-1 lose.

Home starting debut for young Oakmen Zead Elwerfally.

 

Newhaven got the first half underway and some early fouls let the home team know that this game was going to be physical and far from the ease of other games. In the early exchanges both having a fair share of the possession and opportunities.

 

Yellow card for Leon Wright - He catches Marcin Ruda in the chests and he goes flying to the ground. Time for Newhaven to swing in a cross. Lucas Franzen-Jones delivers, James Broadbent claims with ease.

 

Harry Read fires the ball across the box, Lucas Franzen-Jones flicks it to the back post. A Newhaven player gets a touch at the back post, James makes an outstanding save with his foot to keep the game at 0-0.

 

Lucas Franzen-Jones whips in the corner, Conor Sidwell attacks the ball from the corner and out jumping everyone and the ball makes the net bulge. 0-1 Newhaven

 

Newhaven doubled their lead from Marcin Ruda, their box to box Midfielder. Picks up the ball on the edge of the box and beats the goalie finding the side netting of the left hand side of the goal.

 

Lukas Franzen-Jones wins a flick against the center backs. Lee Robinson runs through and slots it past James Broadbent into the right hand side of the goal. 0-3 to Newhaven who are in control of the game before half time.

 

Jonny Elwood looks to the bench just after half time for a spark to reignite the game for the Oakmen. Off comes Leon Wright and on goes youngster Zac Bignell.

 

Neat footwork from Connor Knight gets him out of trouble and finds Jamie Blackford. Who puts a pass over the top to Ellis Wright, he whips a cross in but no one is able to attack it at the back post.

 

Shot from the edge of the box makes James Broadbent stretch and make a good save. Palming the ball to their striker who can’t finish it with a header.

 

Newhaven in control of the game despite AFC attempts to season up an attack.

 

Newhaven scored a 4th and really put a stop to AFC’s recent pressure. Marley Ambler dispatches from the edge of the 6 yards, from a cross.

 

Skillful winger for Newhaven, drives down the left wing into the penalty box. Skips past Cam Williams and crashes one off the bar leaving James rooted to the spot, left watching. AFC clear the ball and avoid another goal
